National Truth and Reconciliation Week

September 23rd to 29th, all Sturgeon Public Schools students are taking part in activities that recognize the history and impact of residential schools and honour survivors, their families and communities. Daily activity guides are being shared with teachers and schools across the Division. We will recognize Orange Shirt Day on September 29th. Tipis at several schools continue to provide spaces for cultural learning, and this year one will move to Lilian Schick School to expand access.
Looking ahead, the Division is focused on five key goals to support Indigenous Student Success in 2025/26: strengthening community partnerships, engaging families, supporting student achievement, creating safe and representative school environments and embedding Indigenous history and perspectives into teaching through professional development.
